Life after graduation holds many surprises. It is scary to step into the unknown and start a new chapter. However, this leap does not have to be a nightmare. If you take your time to find out who you really are and what can work for you, life after grad can be a season of discovery and self development.

While you might think jumping into a full-time job is the best option after the diploma, there are many things you can do in order to take time to really explore your options

Volunteer abroad

Volunteering abroad is a great way to see the world with different eyes. Chances are, you do not have everything figured out after graduation. An experience outside of your daily routine might be all you need in order to find a sense of purpose and doing something that will make you feel more open and fulfilled. Make sure you save up some money while you are still studying in order to invest in yourself during this post grad period. It will be more rewarding than you think.

Take a leap year

Traveling is one of the greatest investments you will ever make. Not only is it an amazing experience but it is also one of the best teachers. Traveling fills us with wonder and turns us into dreamers and storytellers. After graduation, why not fly somewere new? Why not  say yes to adventures and give yourself time and space to truly live?

Turn your hobby into a source of income

After graduation, take the time to transform your passion and hobby into a source of income. Jumpimg to early inside a box can kill your creativity. Is there something you have always enjoyed doing in college? It could be cooking, doing your roommates hair, train friends at the gym and even clean rooms! It does not matter what is is. What matters is that you sit down and find ways to make these “small talents” profitable. You might be surpised to learn that this friend you helped formatting a paper has spoken about you to other students who are willing to pay a few bucks for your services. Do not underestimate your abilities to make your talents work for you!

Go on a retreat

Many graduates find themselves lost and confused becauce they never took the time to remove themselves from the noise to find inner peace. A retrat, whether spiritual or not is a great way to get away, detach yourself from the unnecessary and start fresh. It will allow to you to have a clear vision of what you want, what your long and short terms goals are and where to start. It will put things in perspective and help you make peace with whatever mistake you may have committed along the way.

Work at your college

Working at your college can be a great experience. It will give you the opportunity to work in a familiar envionment and help people you can understand. Find out if they have position at librariew or other departments like study abroad, counseling or more!
